Replaced with hemispheres quotas

170,000 from Eastern

120,000 from Western

1970 replaced the hemisphere quota with Global quota.

290,000 can immigrate or 20,000 per country.

No more then 7% per country

Current law permits up to 480,000 family sponsered immigrants

Takes about 5 years

140,000 employment related immigrants

Quota laws do not aply to refugees.

They don't have limits on who they can bring with them.

Highly skilled workers coming from other countries.

Coming from India to U.S

Other chunk comes from Africa to United Kingdom.

1/4 of all legal immigrates have attended graduate school.

1/10 of Americans have attended graduate school.
