Depending on clinical status, return pt to pre-morbid vocational/recreational activities, modify or find alternative activities. 4. HEP and recreational lifestyle. 5. Engage pt in multiple activities for total conditioning.
Term
At what intensity should exercise be prescribed?
Definition
Above the training threshold, but below the intensity that induces abnormal signs and Sx. Deconditioned:40-50%VO2R. Fitter: 60-80%VO2R. HR=10bpm < Sx threshold.
Term
One option to keep pt from overworking themselves is use of a HR monitor w/ alarms. Gail doesn't like these. why?
Definition
b/c ppl will become dependent on alarms, and we want them to have a sense of where they are by effort, not by a machine b/c they won't always have the alarm on - it's not functional. We want them tolearn to listen to their body.
Term
What is the appropriate RPE level in phase 2 and 3-4 CR?
Definition
II: 11-13 (fairly light - somewhat hard) III-IV: 12-15 (approximately 60-80%VO2R)
Term
Upper limit for ex prescription should be below: (6)
Definition
1. onset of angina or other Sx of CV insufficiency. 2. Plateau or decr in SBP w/ increasig work. 3. 1mm ST depression. 4. Incr frequency of ventricular arrhythmias. 5. Significant ECG changes. 6. Signs/Sx of ex intolerance.

Swimming can't be used for phase II pts. Why not?
Definition
B/c can't monitor ECG.
