-Blocks the passage of electrons through the cytochrome b-c1 complex

Cyanide and Carbon Monoxide

-Effect on Complex IV

- Combine with cytochrome oxidase and block transfer of electrons to Oxygen (O2).

2-4 Dinitrophenol

-Effect on Complex IV

- Allows protons from the cytosol to reenter the matrix without going through the pore in the ATP Synthase complex

- It is an uncoupler, increasing the rate of Oxygen (O2) consumption, electron transport, TCA and CO2 production, while also generating heat, rather than energy.

- FCCP does same thing

Oligomycin

-Effects on ATP Synthase

- Binds to the stalk of the ATP Synthase, preventing proton reentry into the mitochondrial matrix.

- Also acts as an uncoupler
