Why is our discerning and applying Bible principles not as easy as following a set of laws?
Definition
Discerning and applying Bible principles is not as easy as following a set of laws. As imperfect humans we may shy away from the effort required to reason on principles. We may prefer the convenience of a rule when we are faced with a decision or a dilemma. Sometimes we may seek direction from a mature Christian—maybe a congregation elder—expecting to receive a specific rule that applies to our situation. Yet, the Bible or Bible-based publications may not provide a definite rule, and even if we are given one, it might not be a blanket guide for all times and under all circumstances. You may remember that a certain man asked Jesus: “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” Instead of quickly providing a ruling to resolve disputes between siblings, Jesus gave him a more general principle: “Keep your eyes open and guard against every sort of covetousness.” Thus Jesus provided a guideline that was useful then and remains so now.—Luke 12:13-15.

Jesus' application of Bible principles quoting god's work
Definition
Then Jesus was led by the spirit up into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil.2After he had fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, he felt hungry.3And the Tempter approached and said to him: “If you are a son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” ”4But he answered: “It is written: ‘Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every word that comes from Jehovah’s mouth.’”5Then the Devil took him along into the holy city, and he stationed him on the battlement of the temple6and said to him: “If you are a son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written: ‘He will give his angels a command concerning you,’ and, ‘They will carry you on their hands, so that you may not strike your foot against a stone.’”7Jesus said to him: “Again it is written: ‘You must not put Jehovah your God to the test.’”8Again the Devil took him along to an unusually high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.9And he said to him: “All these things I will give you if you fall down and do an act of worship to me.”10Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’”
Term
Matt. 5:17-48

Jesus expands the law into principles to live by.
Definition
“Do not think I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I came, not to destroy, but to fulfill.18Truly I say to you that sooner would heaven and earth pass away than for one smallest letter or one stroke of a letter to pass away from the Law until all things take place.19Whoever, therefore, breaks one of these least commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in relation to the Kingdom of the heavens. But whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in relation to the Kingdom of the heavens.20For I say to you that if your righteousness does not surpass that of the scribes and the Pharisees, you will by no means enter into the Kingdom of the heavens.21“You heard that it was said to those of ancient times: ‘You must not murder, but whoever commits a murder will be accountable to the court of justice.’ 22However, I say to you that everyone who continues wrathful with his brother will be accountable to the court of justice; and whoever addresses his brother with an unspeakable word of contempt will be accountable to the Supreme Court; whereas whoever says, ‘You despicable fool!’ will be liable to the fiery Ge·henʹna.23“If, then, you are bringing your gift to the altar and there you remember that your brother has something against you,24leave your gift there in front of the altar, and go away. First make your peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift.25“Be quick to settle matters with your legal opponent, while you are with him on the way there, so that somehow the opponent may not turn you over to the judge, and the judge to the court attendant, and you get thrown into prison.26I say to you for a fact, you will certainly not come out of there until you have paid over your last small coin.27“You heard that it was said: ‘You must not commit adultery.’28But I say to you that everyone who keeps on looking at a woman so as to have a passion for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.29If, now, your right eye is making you stumble, tear it out and throw it away from you. For it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to be pitched into Ge·henʹna.30Also, if your right hand is making you stumble, cut it off and throw it away from you. For it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to land in Ge·henʹna.31“Moreover, it was said: ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’32However, I say to you that everyone divorcing his wife, except on account of sexual immorality, makes her a subject for adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.33“Again you heard that it was said to those of ancient times: ‘You must not swear without performing, but you must pay your vows to Jehovah.’ 34However, I say to you: Do not swear at all, neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne;35nor by earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.36Do not swear by your head, since you cannot turn one hair white or black.37Just let your word ‘Yes’ mean yes, your ‘No,’ no, for what goes beyond these is from the wicked one.38“You heard that it was said: ‘Eye for eye and tooth for tooth.’39However, I say to you: Do not resist the one who is wicked, but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other also to him.40And if a person wants to take you to court and get possession of your inner garment, let him also have your outer garment;41and if someone in authority compels you into service for a mile, go with him two miles.42Give to the one asking you, and do not turn away from one who wants to borrow from you.43“You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you,45so that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise on both the wicked and the good and makes it rain on both the righteous and the unrighteous.46For if you love those loving you, what reward do you have? Are not also the tax collectors doing the same thing?47And if you greet your brothers only, what extraordinary thing are you doing? Are not also the people of the nations doing the same thing?48You must accordingly be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Principle questions to consider
Definition
Clearly there is a difference between doing work that benefits people just as fellow humans and work that directly fosters or directly gives support to wrong practices. The principal question is: “Does the work or activity to be performed in itself constitute an act condemned by God’s Word? Or, if it does not, is it nevertheless so directly linked to such condemned practices that it would make those doing such work actual accomplices or promoters of the wrong practice?” In such cases Christian conscience should surely cause them to reject such

She never stays at home. 12 One moment she is outside, next she is in the public squares, She lurks near every corner. 13 She grabs hold of him and gives him a kiss; With a bold face, she says to him: 14 “I had to offer communion sacrifices. Today I paid my vows. 15 That is why I came out to meet you, To look for you, and I found you! 16 I have spread fine covers upon my bed, Colorful linen from Egypt. 17 I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. 18 Come, let us drink our fill of love until the morning; Let us enjoy passionate love together, 19 For my husband is not at home; He has gone on a distant journey. 20 He took a bag of money with him, And he will not return until the day of the full moon.” 21 She misleads him with great persuasiveness. She seduces him with smooth speech. 22 Suddenly he goes after her, like a bull to the slaughter, Like a fool to be punished in the stocks, 23 Until an arrow pierces his liver; Like a bird rushing into a trap, he does not know that it will cost him his life.

Proverbs 8:22-31
Definition
Jehovah produced me as the beginning of his way, The earliest of his achievements of long ago. 23 From ancient times I was installed, From the start, from times earlier than the earth. 24 When there were no deep waters, I was brought forth, When there were no springs overflowing with water. 25 Before the mountains were set in place, Before the hills, I was brought forth, 26 When he had not yet made the earth and its fields Or the first clods of earth’s soil. 27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there; When he marked out the horizon on the surface of the waters, 28 When he established the clouds above, When he founded the fountains of the deep, 29 When he set a decree for the sea That its waters should not pass beyond his order, When he established the foundations of the earth, 30 Then I was beside him as a master worker. I was the one he was especially fond of day by day; I rejoiced before him all the time; 31 I rejoiced over his habitable earth, And I was especially fond of the sons of men.
