The primary colors that can be combined to create all other colors. There are there sets of primary colors, depending on their application, known by their initial letters. RYB, CMYK, RGB. RYB (red, yellow, blue are the subtractive primaries used for mixing pigments. These coors cannot be created by mixing other pigments. In this set if primaries black can be achieved (at least in theory) thru the combination of all three primaries. White primed canvases and white paper provide a fourth unmentioned primary that is sometimes visible through transparent washes, as in most watercolors paintings. White paint is also assumed to be available to create tints and pastels. CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and black) are the subtractive primaries used in ink jet printers, commercial printers, and others. Since black cannot be created through the combination of cyan, magenta,yellow, black inks are needed. White paper provides
