Definition
Social groups, including informal cliques of friends, are one of the AGENTS OF POLITICAL SOCIALIZATION. Even if the group does not explicitly relate to politics, members may, as a whole, adhere to some political ideology which is reinforced in the group.

Definition
Liberals generally favor REFORM. They are for MORE government intervention in the ECONOMY and SOCIAL SERVICES and LESS intervention in PERSONAL CONDUCT. Liberals tend to fear police and military power but generally wish to increase the government's aid to the poor and its regulatory powers over businesses in order to protect workers and consumers. Liberals are also concerned with protecting the environment and maximizing women's rights.

Libertarians combine the conservative idea of LAISSEZ-FAIRE ECONOMICS and the liberal idea of PERSONAL FREEDOM. They believe government should be as small as possible, with little regulation on either the economy or the personal conduct of citizens.
