Term
What are vinca alkaloids?
Definition
Bind to beta tubulin to block polymerization - M phase. IV, VESICANT
- Vincristine - liposomal, IV, neurotoxic
- Vinblastine - IV
- Vinorelbine
Term
What vinca alkaloid does not have dose limiting myelosuppression?
Definition
Vincristine
Term
How do taxanes work?
Definition
Bind beta tubulin, promoting polymerization - M phase. IV
- Paclitaxel - IV, in castor oil (hypersensitivity, more sever than polysorbate 80). Pretreat w/ steroid, benadryl, ranitidine.
- Paclitaxel protein bound - no hypersensitivity
- Docetaxel - IV, more severe myelosuppression, milder hypersensitivity/PN
- Cabazitaxel - In Cremophor. Major hypersensitivity.
**Prevention of myelosuppression w/ filgrastim
Term
How does Ixabepilone work?
Definition
binds to b-tubulin, promotes the polymerization of microtubules
- IV, in Cremophor. VERY neurotoxic, BAD hypersensitivity
Term
How does Eribulin work?
Definition
Binds to b-tubulin, block the polymerization of microtubules
- IV, myelo, PN, cardiotoxic
