Term
Procainamide
lidocaine
flecanide
Definition
All 3 Na channel blockers plus procainamide is k channel blocker. Lidocaine weakest, flecanide strongest.

Highest affinity when Na Channel open
prevents re-entry tachycardia and delays DADS.

Increases QRS interval, may causes mono-Vtac via increase in calcium lvls
(QRS=ventricular conduction by NA, QT is ventricular repolarization by K)

procainamide may also causes torsalsdepoints (early after depolar) via k.

Lidocaine: small negitive ionotrope, supress vtac
Flecainide: huge negitive ionotrope drug of choice low risk a fib (pocket)
procainimide:use vtac may cause lupup-like
Term
Propanolol -
Definition
Beta-adrenergic antagonist PR interval

used to control RATE via AV node
good for excess calcium
also used for rhythem control

avoid in patients with AV node block
(only ventricular rate)
Term
Amiodarone
Definition
RHYTHM: Increases QT interval via K channels

amidarone = used for cardiac arrest
low risk pro-arrytmias, good prophylaxis

blocks k (but also Na and Ca)

builds up in skin, bronchotoxic, optic neuropathy. THYROTOXICOSIS

increases blood lvls digoxin/warfarin
long t1/2 means recognize se early
Term
Verapimil (antiarrythmic)
Definition
-stops Ca for conduction across AV node thereby increasing PR interval

used for RATE and AV-RT
(stops depolarization from occuring during RRR)
Term
Adenosine
Definition
SVT re-entry stopper via hyperpolarization and temporary cardiac arrest.

A1 = down SA/AV
A2 = vasodilation
A3 = mast cells flushing

(k channel activation)

AVOID ASTHMA!!!!
Term
Controls AV rentry tachy
Definition
adenosine,
verapimil
Term
Structural heart disease for anti-arrythmics
Definition
amiodirone

low co = amiodirone and lidocaine
Term
Afib rhytem
afib rate
vtac
av rentry
Definition
amiodarone, sotalol, flecainide

propanolol, verapamil

Term
Classification
Definition
1 a-Procain
1 b -lido
1 c - flecaanide
2 propanol0l
3. amiodarone
4. verapamil
Term
sotalol
Definition
Increases QT interval via K channels, d form also b antagoinst

Sotalol: prophylaxis for Afib/vtac with coexisting ischemia. drops # shocks implanted defib.

negitive ionotrope, pro torsades de points via K
Term
Abnormally long action potentials
Definition
early after depolarizations --> torsal de points --> tx is shorten action potential
Term
Delayed Action potential myo toxicity
Definition
premature ventricular contractions -->
relieve Ca overload
Term
rhythm vs rate
Definition
rhythem: better hemodynamics decreased thromboembolism but more toxic

rate: better success, prolonged anticoag
