Indication: asthma controller

 

Dose: 12 - 24 mcg twice daily (1-2 puffs)

 

SIDE EFFECTS

common: tremor, palpitation, headache

 

infrequent: hyperglycaemia, tachycardia, muscle cramps, agitation, hyperactivity in children, insomnia

 

COUNSELLING:

Use this medicine every day, even if you're feeling better

Tell dr immediately if needing more/higher doses than ususal

COUNSELLING:

make sure your dr has given you an asthma action plan.

regularly clean the plastic mouthpiece of the inhaler to prevent blockage

tell dr if needing more or higher doses than prescribed

indication: asthma reliever

 

dose: 500mcg+ as required

 

SIDE EFFECTS

common: tremor, palpitation, headache

COUNSELLING:

make sure dr given asthma action plan.

SIDE EFFECTS

common: dry mouth, throat irritation

 

rare: urinary retention, constipation, glaucoma, dizziness, palpitation, allergies

 

COUNSELLING

Do not use for immediate relief of symptoms

Do not reduce or stop inhaled corticosteroids after starting this, even if you feel better

Do not let mist from nebuliser get into your eyes.  Wear goggles

Tell dr if have eye pain/discomfort or visual halos

COUNSELLING:

Do not use for immediate relief of symptoms

Do not allow powder to come into contact with eyes

Tell dr if eye pain/eye discomfort/visual halos

COUNSELLING:

Do not crush or chew

May be taken with food to reduce stomach upset
