Definition
It inhibits the shocking portion only of the ICD. The ICD usually emits a tone when it gets close to magnets warning patient is coming close to a magnet.

You are told your patient has a 90% occulsion to the circumflex coronary artery. Which type of myocardial infarction is this patient at greatest risk of developing?
Definition
Lateral wall infarction. The circumflex ccoronary artery feeds the left atrium and left ventricle. Can result in lateral or left-sided heart damage.

L suffered an MI from a 100% occluded LAD and circumflex artery. Although cardiac cath returned some blood flow to the left side of her heart, you note a new murmur at the 5th intercostal space, midclavicular line. You suspect?
Definition
Mitral valve regurgitation. New onset Mitral vavle regurgication is often a result of MI of the left anterior descending and circumflex arteries. They feed the papillary muscles, which in turn support mitral valve function. Prolonged ischemia causes the papillary or chordae to rupture preventing full closure during systole.
