Preoccupied with fears that they have a serious disease based off of misinterpretations of physical symptoms. Continue to worry about having serious medical problems after reassurance. Not delusional, realize worries are excessive.

Characterized by symptoms that affect voluntary motor functioning or sensory functioning. Symptoms can't be medically explained. A conflict or other stressor precedes these symptoms.

Antisocial Personality Disorder
Definition
Lack of morals or inability to abide by societal rules. Charming, manipulative, irresponsible, lying, cheating, stealing, substance abuse problems, angry, arrogant, shallow. Must be preceded by conduct disorder and can be caused by genetics or child abuse.

Avoidant Personality Disorder
Definition
Long-standing feeling of inadequacy and are extremely sensitive to what others think about them. Focusing on their own shortcomings, form relationships only if will not be rejected, would rather be by themselves than be rejected or hurt because of pain. Thought to be caused by trauma and psychological/genetic/social factors.

Borderline Personality Disorder
Definition
Long-term patterns of unstable emotions that can lead to impulsive actions and chaotic relationships. Fear of abandonment, emptiness, boredom, inappropriate anger, impulsive negative decisions, doesn't want to be alone, self-harm. Thought to be caused by abandonment, poor communication in/disrupted family, sexual abuse.

Definition
Chronic condition on dependence of others to meet emotional or physical needs. Avoid being alone, dislikes responsibility, easily hurt by criticism, focused on fears of abandonment, passive relationships, helpless when relationships end, problems expressing disagreement. Developed in childhood due to unknown reasons.

Histrionic Personality Disorder
Definition
Act in a very emotional and dramatic way that draws attention to themselves. Acting/looking seductive, influenced easily, concerned with looks, sensitive to criticism, relationships believed to be more intimate than actuality, failures blamed on others, seeks reassurance, self-centeredness, shallow. Thought to be caused by genes and early childhood.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Definition
Inflated sense of self-importance and an extreme preoccupation with themselves. Take advantage of other people for personal goals, reacts to criticism with anger, excessive feelings of self importance, exaggerated achievements and talents, preoccupied by fantasies, unreasonable expectations of nice treatment, constant attention, disregard others' feelings, obsessive self-interest, selfish goals. Thought to be caused by over sensitive personalities or parenting problems.

Paranoid Personality Disorder
Definition
Long-term distrust and suspicion of others, but does not have a full-blown psychotic disorder. Thinks other people have hidden motives/will take advantage of them, can't work with others, social isolation, detachment, hostility. Thought to be caused by genes or environment.

Schizoid Personality Disorder
Definition
Lifelong pattern of indifference to others and social isolation. Appears aloof or detached, avoid social activity and emotional intimacy, does not want or enjoy close relationships. Similar to schizophrenia but less debilitating and causes are unknown.
