Definition
auricular branch of the vagus nerve. Found in the outer ear canal. 3 important things:
1) If stimulated (e.g. with a speculum) it can cause patient to cough/pass out (arnold reflex)
2) may be involved in glomus jugulare tumor
3) person with laryngeal cancer could have referred pain to the back of the ear because of it. |
