Borrowed from 2 movements: Suprematism & Constructivisum-abstract, geometric shapes, unshaded colors. Image of Lissitzky, layered his hand on top--uniting eye & hand in a symbol of ideal labor. Recalled the experiments of cubism bc of one image on another.

Painter & photographer until W.W.I., studied in Paris for 2 yrs then moved to USA in N.Y. & started 291 Portrait studio, created Camera Work & collaborated w/ close friend  Stieglitz (whom brought the idea to Steichen)

Blur using pinhole camera which sofens edges & made it dreamy. Printed as a "Gravure"--a technique favored by pictorialists bc it suppressed detail.
