| Patient must keep hips, feet under them. (You too.) Chair as close to bed as possible, parallel to bed Get patient on side toward edge of bed, then put arms under patient’s legs and bring legs off edge of bed, helping torso up with other arm. Let the weight of the patient’s legs help with the motion. Let patient stabilize for a few moments. Get patient to standing position, then wait a few seconds to stabilize. Use your feet and legs to stabilize patient’s feet and legs. Pivot with small steps from bed to chair. |
