Definition
Self consciousness is dialectic (goes both ways); one becomes aware of oneself by seeing themselves through the eyes of another. Dependent on one another

Definition
Assets- home, car, real estate and financial forms of wealth (i.e. stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc.)
Income- money received by a person for work, from transfers (gifts, inheritances, or government assistance), or from returns on investments
Wealth- a family or individual's net worth

Definition
Class- An economically based hierarchal system characterized by cohesive, oppositional groups and loose social mobility
Caste- Religious stratification, based on beliefs and theological purities
Estate- Laws are in written language, in which rights separate individuals unequally

Definition
On the border of two "pure" classes, example: manager of a restaurant could be on the border of working class and capitalism

Definition
Hard to differentiate middle class from working class or upper class. No set guidelines for "middle class" everyone just assumes they are in the middle class range in America (unless they're the top 1%)

Definition
Structural- mobility that is inevitable due to changes in the economy
Exchange- In society if a set number of people move upward from the middle class, an equal number is expected to move down from the upper class (equilibrium in classes)
