Narmer is featured on this stone because his scale is so much bigger compared to his kneeling enemies. He was the king that unified upper and lower Egypt. His name was represented by pictographs of a catfish (Nar) and saw (Mur). On either side, frontal heads of the cow goddess Hathor indicate that she guards the kings palace.
