Cards Term Why is it important to study organizational effectiveness? Definition Because organizations have an enormous impact on our lives. Knowing how to create and manage an effective organization creates fullfillment and success. Term Identify the three different levels used in analyzing organizational behavior. Definition 1. Individual Level 2. Group Level 3. Organizational Level Term Describe the "Individual level" or analyzing organizational behavior. Definition It examines such issues as personality, perception, attitudes, motication, and values. Term Describe the "Group level" or analyzing organizational behavior. Definition It examines such issues as group roles, group norms, conformity and status. For example the group choosing an inferior suggestion to protect the interest of the group rather than a superior suggestion from the superintendent. Term Describe the "Organizational level" or analyzing organizational behavior. Definition It examines such issues as organizational structure, decision making, authority, reporting relationships, and span of control. Ex: How people talk to each other versus the boss, and who has access to information. Term Define Organization. Definition A system of patterned activities in an open social system that is constantly adapting to its environment. Oganizations are goal-directed entities that originate from the cision and mission of a founder, and their survival depends on following a successful strategy.
