Notes: His most famous painting. Cythera is an Island of love. Away from urbanization and into nature for a different encounter with love. Lower class and high class mingling. He turned this in to the academy of painting, they accepted and was invited into the academy but they changed the title to "The Elegant Feast" -Why? They thought that the idea of class mingling was too extreme and "in your face". Environment plays a big role in these paintings.

Notes: he was seen at "the" painter of the 18th Century. Commissioned a tax collector. They were often looked at to be very voluptuous and even sometimes pornography. In the scene the husband pushes his wife on the swing. Very playful and flirtatious.
