IT IS A SYTEM THAT DIVIDES THE POWERS OF THE GOVERNMENT INTO THREE BRANCHES. POWERS ARE KEPT SEPARATE TO AVOID ABUSE OF TOO MUCH POWER IN ONE BRANCH.

LARGE STATES ARGUED IN THE VIRGINIA PLAN THAT IT SHOULD BE BASED UPON THE STATES POPULATION. THEY COMPROMISED AND CAME UP WITH THE CONNECTICU PLAN/THE GREAT COMPROMISE WHERE THEY TOOK PARTS OF BOTH PLANS AND COMBINED THEM TO CREATE A NEW ONE.

FARMERS WERE UNABLE TO PAY THEIR TAXES AFTER THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, SO THE GOVERNMENT SEIZED THEIR LAND. THIS AGERED THE FARMERS AND THEY STARTED A REBELLION AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT. IT BROUGHT TO LIGHT THE WEAKNESSES OF THE ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION. THE ARTICLES HAD NO FORMAL WAY OF COLLECTING TAXES, NOR DID THEY HAVE A NATIONALY ARMY TO SEND TO BREAK UP THE REBELLION.
