The intent of his tribute to pulque was to rescue pre-Hispanic history from possible oblivion. In spite of their themes, many of the paintings from this period reflect European classical art. The King and his subjects as well as the architecture have a Greco-Roman aesthetic which has nothing to do with a pre-Hispanic reality.

-Commemorates the fight in the Vietnam war

-Good Soldier, combines the symbols of the Plains Indian warrior tradition with those of his military experience. The faceless soldier represents all of the people who served their country. The warrior figures carry shields with the insignia of airborne units that flew in Vietnam. The buffalo (the giver of life), bald eagle (America), golden eagle (the Native American), and bear (bravery and courage) shown across the center are typical animal imagery used in Plains Indian art.

-combines antique ads, family and published photos, and text in a collage carrying a message of social commentary

-Although many of the people depicted in this work are members of Amiotte's family, including his great-grandfather Standing Bear, who performed with Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show in front of Queen Victoria and her husband Albert, the central image is that of another well-known Native American, Chief Joseph. His face is being used to advertise Prince Albert brand tobacco. By including this image with the other, more personal photos, Amiotte is noting the use of images of Native American people to sell commercial products, often without their consent.

In the late 1960s Saar began collecting images of Aunt JemimaUncle TomLittle Black Sambo, and other stereotyped African American figures from folk culture and advertising. She incorporated them into collages and assemblages, transforming them into statements of political and social protest. In the 1970s Saar shifted focus again, exploring ritual and tribal objects from Africa as well as items from African American folk traditions. In new boxed assemblages, she combined shamanistic tribal fetishes with images and objects intended to evoke the magical and the mystical.
