The Executive Branch was shaped by America's "Two Foundings"- the Articles of Confederation in 1777 and the Constitution in 1787.
Under English, executives were bad.
-Governor not one of people
-Executives corruptible
-Legislatures represent and protect citizens
SO, in Articles of Confederation
-No single Executive
-State governors have short terms, term limits, are selected by legislature
Arcticles of Confed are totally inefficient, can't change w/o unanimous consent of states. SO
Under Constitution:
Much stronger executive |
