Term
What is dynamic equilibrium?
Definition
When both the forward and reverse reactions are happening at the same rate.
Term
What is Le Chatelier's Principle?
Definition
If a chemical system at equilibrium experiences a change then the equilibrium shifts to counteract the imposed change
Term

In this equilibria what will increasing the pressure do?

2NO2(g) ⇌ N2O4(g)

Definition
The equilibria will shift to the right.
Term
If there are the same amount of moles of gas on both sides of an equilibrium what will changing the pressure do?
Definition
Nothing beacsue it is already balanced
Term

How will a change in concentration affect this equilibria?

2CrO2-4(aq) + 2H+(aq) ⇌ Cr2O2-7(aq) + H20(l)

Definition
An increase in acid will lead to more H+s, so the equilibrium will move to the right. If an alkali is added the H+ reacts with the OH- which removes the H+s moving the raction to the left.
Term
How will tempreature affect equilibrium?
Definition
The reaction will shift in the direction of the exothermic process.
Term
What is the effect of a catalyst on the equilibrium?
Definition
Catalysts do not changed the position of the equilibrium but the time needed to reach equilibrium.
