Definition
Autoimmune disorder
Inflammation, epithelial thinning, distinctive dermal changes, thin skin like wrinkled cigarette paper, lesions macular-> plaques
Symptoms: pruritus, dyspareunia, dysuria, diminished sexual sensation, vulvar discomfort, anorectal sx

Can treatment for lichen sclerosus begin before symptoms occur?

Yes. But make sure any coexisting vaginitis is treated first.

High potency or very high potency corticosteroids.

(Ex. Clobetasol propionate once daily for a month, then every other day for a month, then twice weekly for a month)

Definition
Inflammatory condition (Types: classical, hypertrophic, erosive)
Classical: Pruritic papules, milky striae, Hypertrophic: rough lesions, Erosive: erythematous erosions w/ white borders, glossy/shiny lesions, vaginal epithelium bleeds easily, adhesions, stenosis of vagina
Symptoms: vaginal discharge, vulvar puritus, vulva pain, burning, vaginal soreness, dyspareunia, post-coital bleeding

Definition
Topical corticosteroids
Classical: can resolve on own or medium-potency corticosteroids
Hypertrophic: super potent topical corticosteroid or intralesional corticosteroid injection
Erosive: super potent topical corticosteroid, intravaginal hydrocortisone or prednisone, vaginal dilators or sugery
